Lee Shin-young is a young woman convicted for the murder of her husband.
She receives the death penalty but refuses all counsel. For a person facing
the last days of her life, she is calm and at peace. Suh Jun-ha is the court
appointed defense attorney for Shin-young. He has a bright future ahead of
him and had been planning to go study abroad when he was appointed to
this case. He quickly realizes that Shin-young is different from any other
client he defended in his short career and begins to feel for this quiet woman
with the cold gaze. On the first day of the appeals trial, Shin-young suddenly
refuses to cooperate and is placed in solitary confinement. Jun-ha begins a
thorough research of her case. When Shin-young realizes how hard Jun-ha
is working to defend her, she slowly lets her guard down. Jun-ha finally
succeeds in appealing and winning Shin-young's case. And once released
from prison, they reunite outside the courthouse and fall deeply for each
other. But happiness is fleeting for these two when her case goes to re-trial
