A Chinese restaurant and a pizza house are situated in the silent street of a
poor town. The managers of these restaurants are similar to people we know
and are the interrupters of peace of the town. The delivery boy of the
Chinese restaurant, So-ryong, is a big fan of Bruce Lee and dreams of
becoming a martial arts star. He always watches Bruce's videotapes, works
out and even has his hair cut like Bruce Lee. At the beauty salon, he meets
Ok-ran who is from Yanbian, China, and dreams of becoming a famous
hairdresser. But the manager of the beauty salon, Charlie Choe, ignores Ok-
ran, and selfish Jay makes Ok-ran's life harder to live. At last, Ok-ran is
kicked out of the beauty salon. There were people who harass the weak in
this town. They always talk to pretty girls who want to become stars, and
sell them to the bars or nightclubs. Ok-ran became their target and they rob
her of money and her body. The delivery boy So-ryong feels sympathy
towards her and becomes angry at the situation, but he has no power.
